Started up in 1864 by Ernest Hamelin, the Hamelin & Fils company was a regional registers and accounting books manufacturer in Normandy.

After WWII, Robert Hamelin, his grand son, changed the focus of his business starting manufacturing exercise books. Over the course of 80's, he built up a market leading business, multi-specialised in school and office supplies in France.

During the 90's, St├ęphane Hamelin, together with Jacques Piattier and Francis Werner, started expanding the group on a European scale acquiring a number of companies. By the early 2000's Hamelin was recognised as the leading European company in this industry.
